All the best, Swiss Schieber Championship

After eight successful editions and hundreds of thousands of rounds of Jass played, the time has come to say goodbye to the Swiss Schieber Championship – the biggest Jass tournament in Switzerland.

In future, Swisslos will be focusing on new projects relating to Jass. We have therefore decided not to continue supporting the Swiss Schieber Championship. This was not an easy decision to take – especially as we celebrated a new participation record in the last edition with over 26,000 Jass players.

We would like to take a moment to look back and thank all the participants most sincerely. What began in 2017 as an ambitious project for Jass fans from all over Switzerland developed over the years into a fixed component of the Swiss Jass calendar. Together with the Blick Group, Swisslos took great pleasure and invested its passion onto organizing this unique event in which thousands of Jass players from all 26 Swiss cantons and Liechtenstein were able to challenge each other year after year.

Every year it was a pleasure to see how Jass fever broke out in the autumn and how each edition found its grand finale at the final event in Zug, which was always a real highlight for everyone involved.

We had seven Swiss champions in Ruedi Felber, Viviane Steffen, Sven Schmidt, Roger Hafner, Steve Furrer, Walter Steiner and Kurt Schryber. Walter Steiner’s achievement in 2023 was noteworthy, as he was able to defend his Swiss championship title.

Another highlight each year was the celebrity Jass players, who were able to take part in the final events, thanks to wildcards. They included Swiss wrestling champion Nöldi Furrer, comedians Peach Weber and Stefan Büsser, ski pros Bernhard Russi and Marc Berthod, and the matron of Jass Monika Fasnacht – they all took part in Zug, and the current Federal Councillor Albert Rösti was also among the finalists in 2017.

Even if we are no longer supporting the Swiss Schieber Championship, our passion for Switzerland’s national game remains. We would like to say thank you and wish you plenty of fun and success in your future Jass games, whether at home with the family, with your regular group at the pub, online at swisslos.ch or on our IOS app.
